"Fight for your rights"
The Mayor's office here in New York is trying institute a regulation that would require any group of 2 or more using a camera in a public area to obtain permits and show proof of insurance of at least 1 million dollars per occurrence.
This law is classist and yet another hit to the state of the arts in NYC. As it relates to the creative community and industry, it will drastically limit our ability to shoot photographs, music videos, b-roll and the like. This ruling will also make it nearly impossible for individual artists, film students, etc to express themselves creatively and in many cases make a living. It's also yet another attack on dissent as it would give the police an opportunity to arrest and penalize those recording protests and demonstrations.
Don't let them erode the Constitution any further. Sign the petition and write Mayor Bloomberg a note. Do it now.

Roisin (pronounced ro-sheen. I know! Me neither.)Murphy has been a locked down favorite of mine ever since a friend did me the solid of slipping me a copy of her Sequins album. Never being one easily sated, I pillaged her discography and found the group that had started it all...Moloko. While "The Time is Now" was apparently their big hit, I have a major rager for "Indigo". If the Scissor Sisters, Moloko, Mika and the Polyphonic Spree would join forces to form a musical supergroup, my life would be blissfully complete.

what would you get if David Bowie, Elton John, Freddie Mercury and some musical wonderfuck space alien genius had an orgy and produced offspring?
one word: Mika
His debut CD, Life in Cartoon Motion has been bumping on my ipod, Sparkle nonstop since first discovering him via Perez Hilton. (I know! It's a guilty pleasure that Perezzle.) His music is prime soundtrack for sunny days when you've got your street fly on. You know everyone who sees you sweats you and wishes they could be a featured player in the movie of your life instead of just an extra. He makes me wanna wear sparkly panties while doing backflips on trampolines....he's that fabulous.
Go, buy it NOW! You can't have my copy because I'm too busy rubbing it all over my body and trying to become one with its deliciousness.

Retrovision: The amazing Amalia Aguilar
I fell in love with Amalia Aguilar long before I ever hit a burlesque stage. A cabaret performer from Havana turned mexican film star, Amalia is one of the oft-overlooked treasures from the golden age of cinema. Although she's far more brilliant and sexy in Las Interesadas, this clip of her rumba inspired act is absolutely smoldering hot.
